Tanya Lynn Coghill
Tanya “tee” Coghill is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and storyteller whose work explores art as inquiry, healing, and connection. Based in Mission, BC on the unceded territory of the Stó:lō people, she creates across media — from illustrated children’s books to wearable art and journals — always inviting others into moments of wonder.
Tee recently graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Education in Art and EDID, where she was recognized with the CFE Award and the Donald & Ellen Porter Scholarship for her excellence and dedication. These honors reflect her commitment to both artistic practice and inclusive, community‑rooted education.
With an MFA (Honours) from NKNU in Taiwan, a BFA (Honours & Distinction) from UVic, and a Studio Art Diploma from Capilano University, Tee blends academic rigor with playful creativity. Her teaching and community practice reflect the belief that art is both shield and mirror, helping us see ourselves and each other more clearly.
Tee is grateful to the many collaborators, students, and supporters who inspire her journey. Through her work, Tanya Tee invites you to explore the stories stitched into everyday life — and to discover how art can transform even the smallest moments.
Scared Bear (Children’s Art & Inquiry Book) by Tanya Lynn Coghill is a delightful story about friendship and kindness. The picture book is geared to young children, but it will also appeal to students of many ages. The colourful illustrations on every page burst with energy and movement and showcase Tanya’s talent as a painter. Her varied depictions of Scared Bear reference art movements, and artists such as Van Gogh, Braque, Munch, Goya, Klimt, and Emily Carr. The book includes a step-by-step drawing activity of Scared Bear and a set of inquiry questions to encourage critical thinking and discussion in a home or classroom setting. Highly recommended.–Annette LeBox, Canadian award winning author:Peace Is an Offering.
